About the Board of Certified Site Safety and Health Officers (BCSSHO) Education Center

Continuing education, certification, and recognition are all essential to keeping safety professionals who help understand and study safety in a position where they can do the most good.  For that purpose, the Board of Certified Site Safety and Health Officers (BCSSHO) was created.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual mandate a Site Safety and Health Officer for most government construction projects. The size, complexity and hazardous elements of each construction project specify the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) level that should be on site. To help SSHOs improve performance, provide educational assistance and continue to help prevent worker injuries the Certified Site Safety and Health Officer designation is now available.

On some construction projects the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided at the work site at all times to perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement for the Contractor.  Feel free to navigate the site and learn how we can help you increase your potential.

You can apply for the Certified Site Safety and Health Officer (CSSHO) designation by clicking on and downloading the Application and Reference Forms on this website.  You may want to consider attending an EM 385-1-1 Workshop which includes the exam.
